Esta carta es enviada por la Direccion del Comite Central del Partido COmunista de Chile al Pueblo Uruguayo en condolencia por la muerte de Mario Benedetti
SALUDO AL PUEBLO URUGUAYO
El pueblo chileno, sus trabajadores, jóvenes y mujeres, tienen una deuda pendiente con el recientemente fallecido escritor uruguayo Mario Benedetti. Nunca olvidaremos su actitud profundamente solidaria con el pueblo de Chile, durante los años negros de la dictadura, donde quiera que él estuviese, en su calidad de exiliado y desde su querido Uruguay cuando pudo volver a él.
El Partido Comunista de Chile hace llegar sus más sentido pésame al pueblo uruguayo por esta sensible pérdida y, hoy más que nunca, renovamos nuestros esfuerzos por consolidar los espacios de libertad y de democracia logrados con la lucha, escuchando y voceando los versos de Benedetti y convirtiendo su mensaje de rebeldía en una realidad.
La desaparición física de este gran intelectual, crítico lúcido y gran combatiente solidario, constituye un gran dolor, pero también un compromiso para continuar bregando por justicia social, la igualdad de oportunidades y las profundas transformaciones que exige a la sociedad el momento actual.
Mario Benedetti se incorpora a la larga lista que integran, entre otros, la Gabriela Mistral, Pablo Neruda, Víctor Jara y Violeta Parra, Vallejo, Jorge Amado, Nicolás Guillén, Roa Bastos, Zitarrosa, Cortázar, junto a decenas de otros audaces creadores latinoamericanos.
Reciban un saludo afectuoso del Partido Comunista de Chile que jamás olvidará el ejemplo de combatividad y esperanza del destacado escritor uruguayo.
